Your session will be approximately 20 minutes. You will be asked to remove your shoes, socks, and pants – you will be given a drape to cover yourself. A vascular specialist will then wipe the area to be treated with an alcohol pad and begin the injections.
The salt solution is injected through a very fine needle, minimizing any discomfort. On occasion, there may be a mild burning sensation. The number of veins injected in one session varies, and depends on the size and location of the veins, as well as the general medical condition of the patient.
A compression bandage is then applied for a short period of time to keep the veins collapsed. The veins gradually disappear. Some veins require more than one set of injections for complete elimination.
